GIC SUPPORT SERVICE
NHS Grampian Gender Identity Clinic (GIC) Support
The NHS Grampian Gender Identity Clinic (GIC) Support service is a new initiative funded by the Scottish Government and delivered in partnership with Four Pillars. It has been developed to support individuals currently on the GIC waiting list, recognising that waiting times can be long and challenging. This service provides guidance, reassurance, and practical help as you prepare for your initial assessment.
Through GIC Support, you can access:
•Assessment preparation – Learn what to expect at your first appointment and how to get ready.
•Support with social transition – Explore your options and receive advice on socially transitioning while waiting, which may help reduce dysphoria for some individuals.
•Flexible sessions – Access support in-person, by phone, or online via Microsoft Teams. There are no limits to the number of sessions you can attend.
•Peer-informed guidance – Work with advocates who bring both professional knowledge and lived experience of the GIC pathway, helping you feel more confident and supported.
The GIC Support service is optional. Choosing to take part will not affect your place on the waiting list, and not engaging will not impact your referral.
With the backing of NHS Grampian and Four Pillars, GIC Support represents a vital step toward improving access, understanding, and wellbeing for those navigating the gender identity care pathway. To contact our team please email GICSupport@fourpillarsuk.org
